Doctor

  • Dr. Robert M Thompson


    Dr. Bob Thompson completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, with a B.S. degree in agriculture in 1981. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Thompson is the owner and managing doctor of Lums Pond Animal Hospital. He started the practice in 1990. Dr. Thompson was the Vice President of the Delaware Veterinary Medical Association in 2000, President-Elect in 2001, and President in 2002. Dr. Thompson is currently the alternate delegate to the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Thompson helped design the current hospital, which was originally a residence. He was also the general contractor of the last construction phase, building above and around the original structure.

    Dr. Thompson enjoys fishing, gardening, taking care of his horses and spending time with his children, Jamie, Jack and Julianna.


  • Dr. Michelle L Crosier


    Dr. Crosier completed her undergraduate degree at Washington College, Chestertown, Maryland in 1994, with a B.S. in Biology. She then attended North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh, North Carolina.
     
    Dr. Crosier is originally from Camden, Delaware and has an interest in avian and exotic medicine.
     
    Dr. Crosier resides in Middletown, DE with her husband Dennis, and children, Erik and Paige. They have two dogs, "Boaz", and "Cricket", and a cockatiel, "Tang". In her free time she enjoys horseback riding, scrapbooking, traveling, and time with friends and family.

  • Dr. Jennifer Chachkes


    Dr. Chachkes completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a B.A. in Biological Basis of Behavior in 1999.  After graduation she worked in the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  She then attended the Univerisity of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  After graduation from vet school, she completed a one-year internship at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey.
     
    Dr. Chachkes resides in Philadelphia, PA with her husband Todd.  She has three cats; "Mr. Black", "Burberry", and "Gustav" and a dog, "Balto", an 8yr.old Husky/Malamute mix.  In her spare time, she enjoys biking, jogging, trying new restaurants in Philadelphia, and spending time with her husband.

  • Dr. Gillian Harclerode


    Dr. Harclerode completed her undergraduate degree at St. Vincent College, Latrobe, Pennsylvania in 1990, with a B.S. in Biology and minor in Chemistry.  After college, she pursued a career in genetic research at the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Pennsylvania.  She then attended the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
     
    Dr. Harclerode resides in Exton, Pennsylvania with her husband Aaron and son Dominic and daughter Isabella.  They have two rescue dogs, "Ben" and "Ali". In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and hiking.

  • Dr. Barbara Harris


    Dr. Harris completed her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, with a BA in Economics and Political Science. She swam for Northwestern and was a three-time Big Ten Champion. Dr. Harris competed in the Olympic trials in 1984 and again in 1988.  She then worked for four years as a management information consultant. After deciding to pursue veterinary medicine, she attended the University of Wisconsin school of Veterinary Medicine, in Madison, Wisconsin.  Then followed by a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University with a special interest in opthalmology.

    Dr. Harris resides in Wilmington with her husband Bruce, son Andrew, and daughter Erin. They have a pit-bull named "Gandalf" and four cats, "Maggie", "Sati", "Bob", and 'Monet". In her spare time she enjoys anything in the outdoors, reading, and swimming.


  • Dr. Paula Colletti


    Dr. Colletti completed her undergraduate degree in 1984 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a BA in Biological Basis of Behavior. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation from vet school, she completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Oradell Animal Hospital in New Jersey. Dr. Colletti was certified in canine and feline practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 2002.
     
    Dr. Colletti resides in Chester Springs, PA  with her husband Tony. They share their home with three Rhodesian ridgebacks, "Hawkeye", "Trapper", and "Geordi". Dr. Colletti enjoys reading, fitness training, music, and theater.

  • Dr. Malcom A Kram


    Dr. Kram completed his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He then attended Cornell University Veterinary School in Ithaca, New York. Dr. Kram owned the Animal Clinic of New York for 18 years. He was the President of the Veterinary Medical Association of New York City in 1983. He was awarded a congressional science fellowship in 1989 and 1990. Dr. Kram received the Pennsylvania "Veterinarian of the Year award" in 2004. Also in 2004, Dr. Kram was elected to the American Veterinary Medical Association's Council on Public Relations.
     
    Dr. Kram joined Lums Pond Animal Hospital in August, 1993. When not working at Lums Pond Animal Hospital, Dr. Kram works at Pfizer Animal Health as their Director of U.S. Drug Safety to monitor the performance of Pfizer's Animal Health products.
     
    Dr. Kram resides in Betterton, Maryland with his cat "Knaidel". In his spare time he enjoys biking, travel, entertaining, and gardening.

  • Dr. Michael J Coyne


    Dr. Coyne completed his undergraduate degree at Pennsylvania State University in 1979. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine where he also received a PhD.
     
    Dr. Coyne works as a vaccine consultant for Intervet Co., and works at Lums Pond Animal Hospital on weekends.
     
    Dr. Coyne resides in Oxford, PA, with his three dogs, "Kieran", "Tresta", and Derry. In his free time he enjoys gardening.

  • Dr. Donna J Gaska


    Dr. Gaska completed her undergraduate degree at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1982. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 
     
    Dr. Gaska resides in Wilmington with her three standard poodles, "Alexander", "Andrew", and "Austin", and two cats, "Emma" and "Snow". She enjoys traveling, showing dogs in AKC confirmation, and reading.

  • Dr. Geraldine M Kaufman


    Dr. Kaufman completed her undergraduate degree at the William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia with a B.S. in 1971. She then attended Purdue University Veterinary School in West Lafayette, Indiana. After graduation, Dr. Kaufman practiced in small animal medicine in Washington, D.C. She returned to Perdue for a Residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Dr. Kaufman was boarded in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1982. She studied for a Master's in Intradisciplinary Engineering and finished a Fellowship in Comparative Nephrology. Dr. Kaufman was on the clinical faculty of Purdue and was the Director of the VHUP ICU until she left for private internal medicine in the late 1980's. Dr. Kaufman has been performing endoscopy since 1978 and ultrasounds since 1992 as part of the internal medicine work-up. Dr. Kaufman offers free continuing education for the veterinarians of the Delaware Valley. she has spoken nationally and internationally, including at the British and European Veterinary Conferences.
     
    Dr. Kaufman resides in Bridgeton, NJ with her husband Dave and golden retriever, "Butch". They have two children, Paul, and Adam. In her free time, she enjoys reading, walking, biking and gardening.

  • Dr. Cecelia A Helinski


    Dr. Helenski completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, Rhode Island, with a B.S. in Animal Science, in 1978. She then attended Tufts Veterinary School in Grafton, Massachusetts. She completed an Internship at Oklahoma State University and completed residency in cardiology at the University of Florida and University of Pennsylvania.
     
    Dr. Helenski resides in Havertown, Pennsylvania.  She has three cats; "Clouseau", "Leopold", and "William". In her spare time she enjoys gardening, reading, (especially mysteries and history) and is active at her church.

Management

  • Betsy Helm , Director of Patient Services


    Betsy joined Lums Pond Animal Hospital in 1995 and is a Licensed Veterinary Technician.  She enjoys working with our clients and their pets.
     
    She resides in Newark, Delaware with five cats "Geoffrey", "Emma", "Maggie", "Missy", and "Ben".  Her newest addition is "Potter", a black lab puppy.  In her free time Betsy enjoys spending time with "Potter", training for obedience and rally.  She also plays softball and is an avid golfer.

  • Debbie Paico , Director of Client Services and Accounts Payable


    Debbie joined Lums Pond Animal Hospital in 2000.  She enjoys wearing many hats.
     
    She resides with her husband "Paico", in Middletown, Delaware along with "Codie" a Siamese cat and "Kirbie" a Maltese.  She also owns a thoroughbred race horse, "Jetpunch".  In her free time she likes to assist training young thoroughbred horses for the race track.

  • Mrs. Donna Dube-Tomczyk , Studio Director


    Donna resides in Fairhill, Maryland with her husband David and their  dogs, "Sadie", "Sasha" and "Misha"; two cats, "Nicholas" and "Addie", two horses, "Brighten" and "Sunny" and minature horse "Misty". They have a daughter Tina and granddaughter Emma. Donna enjoyes gardening, painting, horse back riding and hiking in her spare time.

  • Tighe M. Exelby , Assistant Director of Hospital Services


    Tighe resides in Wilmington, Delaware with two dogs "Daisy", "Tucker", and cat "Oscar".  Tighe is currently working on a third bachelor's degree in order to get into Law School, focusing on animal rights and environmental protection. Tighe doesn't have a lot of free time but enjoys music, excercising with the dogs, and going to the movies.
